The Way Runs Straight Through
Kendo, judo, bushido: each ends in dō, the Way, a path walked for a lifetime with no finish line. A thin seam of gold runs from the top edge down through the standing swordsman and into the pooled ink at his feet, as if the path passed through the man himself.

Creased Cream, Ink Drips, a Thread of Gold
The ground is crumpled and veined with fine cracks, and the gold line reads like the repairs of kintsugi. Below the dark kimono, ink runs downward in long drips, and a few spots of deep red scatter near the sword at his side.

A Thoughtful Corner in the Den
Warm wood, leather chairs, and a reading lamp bring out the cream and gold, so a den or book-lined study makes a natural home. A white bedroom wall works well too. Keep walking; the gold shows up on the stretch already traveled.
