Always a Beginner
Shoshin, beginner's mind, is a Zen ideal popularized in the West by the teacher Shunryu Suzuki: meet each moment openly, as if for the first time. Seen from behind, blade low at his side, the swordsman faces a band of light he has not yet crossed. Experience matters, but curiosity keeps it alive.

A Bright Diagonal Across Deep Blue
A broad yellow stripe runs diagonally across a weathered royal blue field, scratched and spattered like an old painted wall. The black silhouette in kimono and hakama, topknot tied high, stands squarely in its path, while the curved blade catches a thin white highlight near the ground.

Fresh Starts in a First Apartment
Bold and clear from across the room, it suits a first apartment right after the move, when the walls are still bare. Navy textiles and pale pine let the yellow shine, and a student's bedroom carries the same hopeful mood. Each day the road looks new, because he chooses to see it that way.
