The Moon and What Passes
Mono no aware, a gentle awareness of how all things pass, runs through centuries of Japanese poetry, and the full moon has long been one of its favorite subjects. Standing on a dark ridge with his back turned, sword at his side, the swordsman watches it rise. Beauty is felt more deeply when you know the moment will not return.

Sepia Night, Silver Craters
A vast moon fills the upper image, its craters and seas rendered in grainy black and pale cream with the feel of an antique photographic print. Drifting cloud and a darkened foreground surround the small silhouette, whose long coat lifts slightly in the night wind.

For Rooms Made for Night
Bedrooms with charcoal walls let the giant moon become the last thing you see each night, hung right above the bed. Warm lamplight brings out its sepia glow, and a reading corner by a window is another spot for it. The moon rises again tomorrow, though never quite the same.
